THE MARWILLS The Marwills came together in 2006 in Gibsons, BC. Jesse, James, and Graeme met in their small-town high-school and had been jamming for years without a vocalist. Brett moved from Alberta and the band tracked him down. Things clicked and the rehearsing became regular. After a successful first performance the band began booking gigs at local restaurants and bars, including a New Year's Eve masquerade ball at the local oyster house. The band parted ways after only a year, with James and Graeme heading to the frozen wastes of Edmonton to get music diplomas, and Brett and Jesse hightailing it to Mexico in a VW van. After dumping their beater in the desert, Brett and Jesse followed their rock compasses north to Edmonton, where the band secured a new hard-partying bass player and a monthly gig at Double D's Bar and Grill. This led to further gigs at Sly's Pig Roast in Onoway and the Longest Day Festival in Blackfalds, both large gatherings of Albertan bikers. The band uprooted from Edmonton as James and Graeme headed East to Toronto to turn their diplomas into degrees. Seeing no further use of the blasted prairies, Brett and Jesse followed. With a house in North York all to itself and an ever-strengthening passion for rock and roll, the band is on its way to becoming established on the scene here in Toronto.
