The Monday Club, one of Sheffield’s most exciting musical prospects are releasing a brand new 4 track EP titled ‘Up is Up‘. Their thumping rock/indie sound has won over many plaudits recently, and is earning them a solid reputation. The four piece have been described by The Sheffield Scenester Magazine as having the “Catchiest indie tunes around“, and “An on-stage presence that oozes genuine ’born to perform’ ease”. The band, formed by school friends Paul Hawksworth (Lead Guitar and Vocals) and Darren Ullyett (Guitar and Vocals) began gigging in March 2010 following the recording of a demo titled ‘Champagne Talkers’ demo, recruiting Steve Scott (Bass) and Marc Wragg (Drums). ‘Up is Up’ Recorded in December 2010 over two days at the legendary 2Fly studios in Sheffield (previously used by the Arctic Monkeys and Reverend and the Makers), ‘Up is Up’ is a culmination of a hard working year for the band and showcases their triumphant, swaggering indie rock sound. Throughout 2010 the group went on to entertain crowds as the headline act at several Sheffield venues, and secured weekend slots at both the Manchester and Sheffield 02 Academy venues. A definite highlight was the release of a music video for their track ’Lay Down and Die’ in March 2010 which won ‘Best Music Video’ at Crystal Palace International Film Festival. 2011 is an exciting year for The Monday Club, and includes plans for nationwide gigs starting at The Lucorum in Barnsley and also includes two headline slots in Sheffield, not to mention plans for a second music video
