The Newcranes comprised a group of young musicians playing up-tempo mandolin-oriented Ukrainian-influenced folk/rock music, who were based in the Derby and Nottingham areas of the UK in the early 1990s. The band comprised: Wolly (mandolin, main vocals), Mark (guitars, vocals), Micky (accordion, vocals), David (Bass guitar), and Chris (Drums). Wolly Dyszkant now records under the name DyMyR. Along the way, The Newcranes tasted chart success, did headline tours, festivals and shared the bill with such luminaries as Bob Dylan, The Pogues, Skunk Anansie, and Rolf Harris.
