The Response was formed in the summer of 2000 by roomates Peter P.(Spankchild) and Richard Bowman in Milwaukee, WI. Their summer collaboration resulted in four songs and in September they approached their friend Mikey B. (Men From mars / The Blasphematics) to fill in on the low end. Jesus (Next In Line) dusted off his drumsticks and by October the line-up was complete. The band began playing shows in December and within the year had garnered attention and praise opening for the likes of The Faint, Har Mar Superstar, The Figgs, The Gadjits, Openhand and the Starlight Mints. Their melodic indie-rock with metal overtones coupled with unrelentingly energetic performances attracted growing crowds. In January, 2002, Richard left the band to pursue other interests (The Last Place Champs) and the remaining members recruited Steve Kerwin (Last Flight Home / Radio Tokyo) on guitars and vocals. The band rocked a packed Cactus Club in March, headlining their first show with the new line-up. 2002 presented The Response with limitless opportunities, opening for bands such as Superdrag, The Reunion Show and The Stereo, as well as touring the Midwest. They released The Six EP on Latest Flame in 2002. The Response now releases records on the Action Heights label.
