Four working class lads - bursting with talent, enthusiasm and their very own brand of Rock n Roll - Try putting them into a category at your peril. With their varied sound and ability to slow it down or speed it up, The Revivals have all things Rock under one roof
Perthshire based band The Revivals – Hutch, Dave, Stu and Skinner (two Scots men, an Englishman and an Ozzy) have built quite a following from a series of knock-out gigs around the country. Whilst making legendary tayside rock venue The Twa Tams there second home
After an initial stint with a band he felt was going nowhere, front-man Ian Hutchison decided to rip it up and start again. He kept his tried and trusted drummer Mike Skinner and auditioned for a new lead guitarist and skilled bass player.
Call it fate, call it luck – whichever way you look at it Stuart Methven and Dave Shaw were recruited after impressing. During this time an old school friend of Ian’s offered to manage and finance the band to give them the best possible chance of cracking the nut that is ‘the industry’. The name of the new band was discussed and The Revivals were born.
Their sound, as the name suggests, revives the best traditions of high energy rock n roll and has been described as "Led Zeppelin meets Americana" by Musician’s union Dave Arcari.
Progress was made resulting in many fantastic reviews, BBC unplugged sessions, several support slots and showcase gigs at The Borderline, The Cavern, King Tuts and Dublin Castle amongst many others. All went down a storm seeing the band invited back for more.
The Revivals have completed a 15 date nation wide tour. Whilst on tour they played live acoustic sets on BBC Leeds, BBC Leicester, BBC Merseyside, BBC Norfolk and BBC Notingham. They also played live on BBC Counties radio with DJ Dave Lee Travis for John Peel Day on October 13th – the session has since been aired again.
Ian Hutchison (lead vocals, rhythm guitar and song writer) says "Our influences are wide but essentially our sound’s inspired by the likes of the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Black Crows, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynard Skynard and the rest,"
The Revivals have gigged constantly, up and down the country, sharing the bill with, The Zutons, Aynsley Lister, Cosmic Rough Riders, Shaun Ryder & (Pete, Keith) The Farm, The Casuals, Pipeline and the Endrick Brothers.
