The River 68's The River 68’s are: - Craig McCabe - Lead Vocals & Guitar Christian McCabe - Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals Gerry Loughrey - Bass & Backing Vocals Dave McCluskey - Drums 2010, Glasgow, Scotland. The country’s newest and hottest rock band The River 68’s are rehearsing in their studio- come- lodgings in a disused office high above the centre of the river city, a mere Mick Jagger’s stage strut away from what was once the location of the city’s renowned live venue, the Glasgow Apollo. “Although we weren’t actually born when the Apollo closed in 1985, we can look out the window at the cinema that stands there now, and dream about the legendary performances by those who once tread the boards there” says Gerry Loughrey, one half of the band’s rhythm section. Brothers Craig and Christian McCabe grew up on the outskirts of Glasgow during the nineties, where they made friends with Gerry Loughrey and Dave McCluskey at school. A similar taste in music brought the aspiring musicians together back then, and having all worked their way through several different bands, names, and line ups, it has brought them back together now as The River 68’s. With a classic rock attitude and a contemporary delivery, The River 68’s are quick to tip their collective hats to music by the likes of Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, and Foo Fighters. However, special reverence is reserved for the albums ‘Beggars Banquet’ by The Rolling Stones and The Beatles White Album, both of which saw the light of day in 1968.
