The Rocket Dolls are a three-piece Post-Grunge Riff-Metal outfit who formed in the beginning months of 2008 in Brighton, England. Made up from three young, professionally trained musicians who all come from strong musical families, The Rocket Dolls are: Nikki Smash – Lead vocals and lead guitar, Steve Golder – Bass and backing vocals and Ben Knopfler – Drums.
As trained musicians from various top colleges across the country, the guys are very well cultured in different styles of music and extremely capable musicians. Their main influences when growing up were that of Classic/Heavy Rock, Grunge and Metal, so it is no wonder that the music they are now playing together has major elements from all these genres. The Rocket Dolls have taken major influences from: The Exies, Deftones, Motley Crue, Silverchair, Bush and of course Nirvana, and have put their own new feel to this collective of styles.
From day one it was obvious the band had something new and very exciting to offer the music industry and set to work creating a live show that would be like nothing seen on the unsigned circuit. It became very clear after The Rocket Dolls played their first gig at The Railway Inn, Winchester, that what the band was offering was extremely popular with the crowds. With an amazing reception they are now a much sought after band throughout the area. The band has also played many prestigious venues such as The Water Rats and The Hope and Anchor in London, whilst playing all over the South of England, including the Channel Islands. Constant radio plays, articles and excellent reviews have all followed suit, The Rocket Dolls are building a solid and loyal fan base with their exciting shows, image and devotion to their music.
The Rocket Dolls have just recorded their debut record, the “Frame EP”, which has been mastered by Ace (Skunk Anansie). The EP captures the big and heavy dynamic sound they create live on stage and has been produced to excellent professional quality. With this debut EP, they have already supported bands such as Million Dollar Reload and The Luchagors and are hoping to stir some serious interest within the music industry; book more shows to promote themselves across the country and the continent, ready for world domination!
