There are at least two artists which use this name: 1. The Room were formed in the late 70`s by Dave Jackson and Becky Stringer (both later of Benny Profane, Dust and The Dead Cowboys) before going through various personnel changes and splitting in 1985. With their interesting mixture of smooth vocals (Mel Torne was a big influence), clever lyrics (at times worthy of Jackson’s hero Thomas Pynchon) and splindly yet melodic music (thin The Fall but with more emphasis on melody) the band though very much of their time were too clever to be lumped in with the Liverpool scene of the time (Bunnymen, Wah, Wild Swans etc) Despite being a firm favourite of John Peel, the music press and having an album produced by Tom Verlaine The Room never made the commercial breakthrough their music deserved. 2.The Room are a melodic rock band hailing from the Southeast of the UK. Formed in 2010 the band finalized their line up in 2011 before starting work on a promotional single and then their debut album. Martin Wilson and Steve Anderson from progressive rock band GLD were joined by Andy Rowe, Andrew Rae and Steve Checkley. The five band members brought together a broad range of musical influences which has helped form The Room's distinctive style. Smart songs with great melodies are the essence of the bands material with all the members involved in crafting the material. Four highly successful launch shows were played in October 2011 to coincide with the release of the promotional single 'A Casual Believer' / 'A Multitude of Angels'. Audience reaction was superb and the band was thrilled with the response. 3. Manchester-based up-and-coming Indie band. https://soundcloud.com/the-room-1
