THE SHOESTRUNG is a young band from Brighton based in London now. The members Dave Tregenza ( bass guitar, cello), Rob Miles (drums), Al Ritchie (guitar, vocals) and Bryn Hoffman (vocals, guitar, harmonica, Hammond). In the style of the day, the word 'Shoestrung' was used to describe a number of different activities, bodily functions and fetishes. Due to the declaring of all of these definitions illegal, unlawful, immoral and downright sick, the word 'Shoestrung' is in the rare position of being in existence without any definition – a word that means many things. It has remained so until now, since a group of four young dandys and drop-outs with instruments, decided to choose 'The Shoestrung' for its connections with Pretty Boy Floyd, Leadbelly. Billy the Kid, Jesse James, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jim Morrison, Joe Strummer, Robert Johnson and Jelly Roll Morton. Having spent a year walking the streets and venues of Brighton, The Shoestrung now reside among the warehouses of east London, living communally like some grotesque homage to the Monkees TV show. Sometimes they also like to live in Marrakesh and St Tropez. Bryn, Rob,and Dave are also vampires but they hide it well. Al often hides away on his fathers yacht when they are feeding.
