The Skalinskis are a collective of vagabonds and drunks who escaped persecution in their former homelands and hid in the underground slums of Stoke on Trent. Late at night they wander the streets telling tales of home playing music for food and booze. When they corner an audience in a dark alley they play a fusion of eastern european folk music with upbeat dub and ska, enough to make any scared and cornered city dweller perform the most beautiful of skanks. In 2009 the band are currently a 6 piece ecleftic combo featuring driving lyrics and a tidy beat with a 3 man deep brass section. As a band the Skalinskis have been going for over 10 years performing with different members at various times however the stalwarts of the band are Steve and Nick Skalinski who have been there since the start. Previous albums include "The Hardline of Eastern Bloc Ska", "Kissing the Monkey", "Gentlemen prefer thongs" and their 2007 album "Ba-Da-Boom!!!" which features the youtube sensation "The King Tut Strut" If you wanna see more about the band 'one9eighty' has made a great myspace page for them so pop across to myspace and give the a shout. www.myspace.com/theskalinskis They also have some videos online at youtube again thanks to 'one9eighty', all you have to do is search 'theskalinskis' or 'one9eighty' For direct contact The Skalinskis can be reached at skalinski@hotmail.com
