The Stagger Rats were formed in the winter of 2008 by Daniel Paylor, Kai Wallace, Callum Easter and Craig McMullen. They had a notion of distancing themselves from the established indie sound. After recruiting Shetlander Jack Sandison on bass and crafting some fine new songs, they got to work on getting tight and are now out and about giggin in Edinburgh, Glasgow and anywhere else their crimson fun machine "Josephine" can ride on. This summer alone saw The Stagger Rats play twelve music festivals across the UK on the same bill as established signed acts such as Gomez, The View, Gil Scott-Heron and The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. They are currently preparing to record there debut album which will be on sale next May. The Stagger Rats debut single, See Through Spiders , is now available for download and features in a film called PIMP directed by Robert Cavanah. The film starring Danny Dyer, Billy Boyd and Robert Cavanah follows a week in the life of Woody; a Soho pimp, as seen through the eyes of concealed documentary cameras. After securing 3 tracks on the film The Stagger Rats have just finished filming the video for See Through Spiders the title track on the film, also directed by Robert Cavanah. 2011 saw the release of 3 more singles Fuzzy Fuzzy (06/08/11), I'm In Love (26/10/11) and a cover of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band's There's No Lights On The Christmas Tree Mother, They're Burning Big Louie Tonight (06/12/11). 2012 saw the release of their album Scorpio Leisure. THE SUNDAY TIMES-With their Scottish accents, sharp suits and unmistakable swagger, they are quite unlike any other Scottish band in this list. This gypsy death funk stuff is really rather good.
