[1] A band from Kranj, Slovenia, playing atmospheric rock (www.thetide.si)
The Tide was established in 2003. It consists of five experienced musicians, who learned from playing in other bands. These extremely gifted musicians form a very productive combination. After merely a year of existence in such cast, they composed, arranged and recorded about twenty songs, while visiting stages on some of the most known slovenian festivals.
The band concentrates on harmonious music, melody and lyrics, the latter emphasizing the power of all other components. At concerts, The Tide concentrate not just on good sound, but ideas, spontaneighty and relation to the public as well. The calm, yet melodious music challenges feelings and stresses beauty and love. It is music for all generations, timeless and politically neutral.
In 2004, The Tide took part in the Loka Festival, and won. This was followed by concerts in several important Slovenian clubs. At the same year, On Your Way was a background music in a short movie, The Horizon.
In 2005, a video for Carry On was recorded with RTV Slovenia as the co-producer and Miha Knific as the director. The video was successfully presented on all national tv-stations, as well as on MTV Adria.
In November 2006, The Tide released their debut album named Love&Trust, also supported with their second video for the song Your river wild. The director of the video was once again Miha Knific and his work, as well as the record itself was very well accepted among slovenian audience and music critics.

To any art there is a craft that must be molded, and perfected. In the case of The Tide, it’s more or less a desire to craft responses out of over saturated listeners. So how do you bring new life and character to an already mundane and apathetic music culture? Enveloping powerful and embracive sounds, with bare to the bone, “truth be told” lyrics, The Tide has set its sights on nothing less. For the past year and a half this four-piece West Michigan based outfit has been developing beautiful, “off the cuff” songs hitting home and turning heads from the start. The band’s prowess between each member makes itself incredibly obvious as you listen in on the stories told through their debut EP, “In Need of Rest”. But one thing is indeed for sure, and that is that this band must be seen live in order to capture the full effect of exactly what The Tide is, and is capable of doing. Sharing stages across the country with the likes Love Drug, Sleeping At Last, Forever Changed and The Myriad there is something brewing just beneath the surface. When you have an understanding of a mutual need for one another, the audience is receptive in a way we don’t normally see. Call it being vulnerable if you wish, but The Tide has an unwavering commitment to bearing its soul as part of its craft. There’s something completely comforting and peaceful spilling over from The Tide, that delivers a message of grace and hope and convicts many listener’s hearts. The very responses they wish to artfully ensue are slowly being surfaced…after all; we are all in need of rest
