Those with a keen eye and ear may recognize frontman Jon-Lee Martin from Brew Record’s very own masked masters of noise KONG who released their one and only album ‘Snake Magnet’ in 2009. With two-thirds of Brew now working under the Hatch Records banner alongside some new blood there were always going to be some links to the previous label.
Originally starting life as a home studio project and after some encouragement from close friend Jorma Vik from The Bronx, a series of lo-fi recordings appeared online which, showed the bare bones of Then Thickens. Now years later and with a full band behind him, which includes former Rolo Tomassi member Joseph Thorpe on bass, Then Thickens are now ready to take things further with their full sound of lo-fi pop meets American rock.
New single release “Restart you heart” was released digitally on 2nd December, with the full length album “’Death Cap At Anglezarke’” scheduled for early 2014.
Then Thickens have previously supported the likes of Mariachi El Bronx and Biffy Clyro. Simon Neil of Biffy has continued to champion the band and most recently in the NME where he praised their ‘dirgey pop music’.
