Taking the sounds of 90's indie rock and mixing it with the typically American style of pop-punk, they have forged a set of 7 songs that come across as totally unpretentious, a rare thing for a band claiming emo tendencies as they actually admit they are 'pop-punk'. Wasting little time getting going with a storming start in 'Forever and a Day' they have a sound that sound resembling The Cure if they turned up to 11 crossed with the dark-punk tendencies of Alkaline Trio. This resemblance to AK3 is particularly noticeable in the vocal performance of Danny Pheonix which while sounding unique has a certain resemblance to Matt Skiba. Later on the disc Danny exhibits a more traditional punk snarl on the blasting 'Ultimate Boredom' which could easily be described as the albums 'punk song'. These vocals lay over a solid musical base which has the same pop-punk sound as the vocal with the edge of something heavier present in the style of bands like Therapy? All of this is put together with a very slick and clean sounding production except on 'Ultimate Boredom' where the band display their scuzzy punk credentials. Overall Third Time Lucky's 'Love etc.' presents 7 tracks of unpretentious pop-punk with a bit of emo and good old fashioned rawk mixed in for good measure and sets a good standard for other young pop-punk acts to live up to in Guernsey." by Tom girard
