Tiger by the Tail

Tiger by the Tail is an Australian garage rock band led by Dave Thomas, who previously plays with BORED!. The group’s line-up includes members of The Sailors and Johnny Casino’s Easy Action. It records its self-titled first album at Birdland Studios in Melbourne, with recording and mixing completed in 48 hours and production by Lindsay Gravina.

Style and sound

The band draws on garage rock and a noisy, guitar-led sound, with influences from the Bad Seeds, the Stooges, Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr and Queens of the Stone Age. Its music combines aggression with melody and has an indie-rock edge.

Dave Thomas plays guitar and sings, James Saunders plays guitar, Michael Evans plays bass and Daniel Dempster plays drums.

Origins

The musicians are friends who spend time together outside music before forming the band. Their work presents a raw, high-energy view of the Australian scene.
