“Top Buzzer play pop-punk in a style that is so fresh and individual. You might just love them.” – Kerrang!
“Stunning” – Big Cheese
"This is definitely the kind of stuff I like: fast, punky, poppy." - Damian 'Pink Eyes' Abraham (vocalist from Fucked Up)
“Punk’s not dead. It just needed a solid kick up the backside. Job done.” - The Jitty
The punk pop new wave powerhouse that are Top Buzzer have been making a racket since 2011. Within weeks of their first rehearsal, this London based troop took one look at the ashes of the music industry and set up their own record label, Back2Forward Records, and some six weeks later released their debut release, The Hands Up EP.
This DIY ethos and sheer dedication saw the band tour incessantly. Following their first US tour and appearance at SXSW, the band recorded their debut album "Outside Is A World" as soon as they returned home. This was eventually mixed by Kennan Keating (Nine Inch Nails, Blondie, Alan Vega) who the band met while the Brits were slogging it out on the road Stateside. The New Yorker was blown away by the energy on their self recorded debut and over a pint and a handshake in Brooklyn, this knob twiddling veteran insisted that the band not change their DIY approach but offered to do the final mixing honours.
Back on home turf, the album received great press from the likes of Kerrang, Rock Sound and Big Cheese to name but a few. Their debut single “Remission” taken from the album had plays on Kerrang, Q Radio and BBC Introducing – not bad for an independent debut release by a DIY band. The video for the track was also aired on Scuzz TV.
In tandem, radio stations in the US picked up on the band's work including KROQ and Marky Ramone's Punk Rock Blitzkrieg show. Shortly afterwards, their track "You're So Good You're Great" made it to number 2 on the Strummerville (Joe Strummer's charity) download chart as well as the band grabbing the attention of Amazing Radio’s Rock Show.
2012 saw the release of "Rebel On The Underground - A Tribute To X-Ray Spex" - a compilation in aid of the US charity Sweet Relief in which the band were one of only two acts on the album not to be from the States. As well as this leading to support slots with Baddies and ska punk legends Goldfinger, this Buzzed-up Poly Styrene classic gained the band rotation on one of Japan's largest radio stations, Inter FM, as well as uber DJ legend, Rodney Bingenheimer's Rodney On The Roq show in LA.
Summer 2013 saw the band as busy as ever with the release of The Sprollie EP and a European tour with Californian legends Face To Face and CH3 culminating in a homecoming appearance at the world renown Rebellion Festival. The trio continued their momentum into 2014 with back to back European tours with the likes of NYC's Jonny Lives! and The Movement and a return to Rebellion Festival. In January 2015, the plucky Londoners were honoured to be the last band to grace the stage of the 12 Bar in Soho at the request of the venue.
In Spring 2015, the band release the "Inside is a Room" EP showcasing a more dynamic and eclectic sound while retaining the catchy hooks the trio have become famous for.
