Around April 2008, after a couple of years as a well established breaks act, Jimmy invested in a home studio. With some money set aside he could solely, full time, concentrate on his music. After a few months of not even seeing the real world Torqux took his first steps. He has gained support from the likes of Jay Cunning, Reid Speed, The Freestylers, Ctrl-Z, Skrewface, Vent, DJ Quest, Far Too Loud, The Equalisers, The Magnet Men, Diverted, Freq Nasty, The Beat Assasins, Afghan Headspin, Riskotechque, Marchmellow, Suspect, Stenchman, Backdraft, D-Ranged, High Rankin, Excision, 16 bit, Rob Sparx ... Background Jimmy started producing on Fruity Loops 2 around the age of 18. Growing up he listened to old school rave tunes and his Dads massive CD/vinyl collection. Anything with big basslines and build ups was attractive to his ears. He tried replicating this via some dodgy DnB tempo based tunes. This was so much fun Jimmy decided to study Music Technology for 3 years. During this time he naturally progressed through Reason onto Logic. He is now running a Macbook Pro with Apogee Duet, Logic Pro 8 and Fostex PM 0.5 MK II's and 0.5 SUB, a M-Audio Oyxgen 8 keyboard, a Yamaha Midi Keyboard, Rode Nt1a with a PC for Albeton Live, a couple of VSTs in Fruity Loops 3, Roland Sp404 Drum Machine/Sampler. A recent addition is the Roland TD-4 Electronic Drum Kit. All this is in a treated room containing a vocal booth treated with acoustic tiles.
