http://ramphastos.bandcamp.com/ Ramphastos (Formerly Toucans) is the identifier for William Flourance of Columbia, South Carolina, and his recent production work. Flourance has been releasing music digitally since March, 2011 via the website bandcamp.com and has gained a small degree of attention on the internet since. Toucans draws influence from a wide variety of contemporary music phenomena such as dubstep, witch house, and chillwave. Each song meticulously deconstructs dusty samples from music made predominately in the 1960s through the 1970s and reconstructs them into reflective and lush soundscapes while often altering the pitch of vocal samples and instrumentation over top of hip-hop leaning 808 drum beats. Flourance changed his project name to "Ramphastos" the scientific name for Toucans, in August 2011.
