Reggae has always been more than just music. Born from Jamaican independence, it has becomes a means for self-expression, a vehicle for protest - in some cases, almost a self-contained way of life. Founded in 2004, the Trojan Sound System is a way for sound system culture to be preserved through its advancement. A crack team of selectors, vocalists and MCs, Trojan Sound System have been spinning their own unique vibrations around the world for almost a decade now. Recently releasing the 'Africa - Remixes EP' the collective have opened 2013 with a bang, playing sets across the globe. Containing Toddla T, JFB and Darkstarr Diskotek re-dubs, 'Africa - The Remixes' collects the old with the new, the traditional with the daringly modern. Coinciding with full live and Dex N FX shows across Europe, Trojan Sound System are spreading the reggae gospel in fine style. As a special Friday treat, ClashMusic are able to bring you an exclusive mix from the collective. Trojan Sound System have pieced together 'Deep Culture Roots' - a mix which does exactly as it says on the tin. Expect soulful vocals, sweeping studio effects, rapid fire toasting and plenty of cavernous bass frequencies.
