A fetish for screenprinted wares, cryptic lyrics and obsessions with fifth dimensional time travel helps garner sense of their erratic sensibilities. Tubelord were an Alternative Rock band from Kingston upon Thames, England, formed in 2006. The band consists of Lead Singer and Guitarist Joseph Prendergast, Backing vocalist and Drummer David Catmur, Bassist Tom Coulson-Smith and Keyboardist and Sampler James Elliot Field. In 2009, the band signed a record deal with independent label Hassle Records and on 12 October 2009 they released their Debut Album Our First American Friends.[1] The band formed in 2005 while attending Kingston College when Joseph Prendergast suggested to David Catmur and Olev Saunders to make use of free studio time he came across by writing and recording a few songs. After a few weeks of recording the group decided to become a fully fledged band, and once they developed a full set of songs, they performed their first show at David’s house. They soon played small basement and club gigs and developed a small following which has grown rapidly. The band performed a live set at The Luminaire, Kilburn, London in September 2008 which was recorded and broadcast online by BeatCastTV. This was the first band to feature on the then new independently run music web channel and marked its unofficial "launch". After releasing an EP and three singles and garnering a following through the release of the video for “Feed Me A Box Of Words” and relentless touring with bands such as This Town Needs Guns and Tellison, they signed a record deal with Hassle records and on 12 October 2009 they released their debut album Our First American Friends, which was met with critical praise from Rock Sound,[2] ThisisfakeDIY.com,[3] and BBC,[4] and was supported by the single “Propeller”, which was released with a video on 28 September 2009. The track "Ratchet" off their 2010 release "Tezcatlipoca" featured Mikey Glenister playing cornet, who regularly plays with Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. In 2011 the band released "Romance" on the Pink Mist label. On 21/11/2012 the band announced their break-up via their Facebook page, posting a new video titled 'This is it' along with comment stating 'We couldn't leave without one last song could we?'. The band split up in November 2012 and played their last ever gig at the Old Blue Last in London on New Year's Eve.
