WHUT? a unique mix of Hardcore Punk and Metal that is filled with anger, aggression, and the endless party. After a few line up changes over the years, the band is currently made up of Pervert Bastard Scum(guitars), Philly D(drums), The Poet J.Keen(vocals) and Usha The Mighty(bass), all which have spent years playing in Chicago’s underground scenes, and have allowed the survival of Whut? Since 2002.
In September 2008, Whut? - Through It All, We Stand Tall!, the highly anticipated release from Whut?, and upstart Indie Label Scumbag Entertainment hit the streets with a fury and a filled to capacity release show at The Mutiny in Chicago. This release recorded at Suburban Scumbag Studios and mixed and mastered by Nick at the Nook Studios, more then makes up for the extended delay. Furious riffs, pounding double bass, massive low end, and killer vocals with memorable lyrics makes this EP show Whut?’s true colors.
Through It All, We Stand Tall was released after a 2 year + Fight of having their engineer incarcerated and his computers seized by Feds, which lost a full length album worth of music(200+ hours of tracking/13 songs) recorded over 6 months, and then a year+ of dead time while fighting to get the music back, which never happened. At a point where most bands would break up and dropout, Whut? Persevered and became a stronger, angrier unit, and never ended the pursuit to release new music and destroy any opposition that stood in its path, and took the fight back into the studio.
In April 2009 Whut? Completed a very successful East Coast Tour billed as the "No Coast To The East Coast" tour, which included shows with Nassau Chainsaw, Essence Of Pain, Back To Back, The Alcoholocaust, Not Without A Fight, Suppressed Theory, Psychomanthium, Pitfight, Villains and Victims, and many other great acts.
This tour also included a live performance on New England’s longest running Metal Radio show The Stress Factor on WUML - Lowell, MA.
As of right now(Summer 2009), Whut? Is playing lots of regional shows, writing and tracking for an upcoming album, and is in the process of releasing the live set from The Stress factor show, due out in Fall ’09, "Dead Air - Whut? Live on WUML". With another East Coast Tour set to follow, and a European Tour set to happen in May 2010, this band is getting ready to run rampant across the scene.
