HowTheLightGetsIn returns to Hay-on-Wye from 25 - 28th of May 2018 with more ideas, music, magic and wonder than ever before. For one weekend, the world's leading thinkers flock to our festival site on the edge of the Black Mountains. Elsewhere in our fields, an inspiring programme of music, comedy and performance art unfolds across our intimate and atmospheric venues.

Their music line-up is another part of why HowTheLightGetsIn is so special...

Nowhere else on earth are ideas and hedonism so closely intertwined.

They carefully handpick a Festival Live programme that melds old favourites with the cutting edge. From exhilarating dance beats to intimate gigs from enchanting solo singers, every taste is catered for.

Day and night, revellers scour the nooks and crannies of the idyllic site for every music genre from tribal dance to Welsh male choir concerts, before heading to our legendary themed parties. Whatever your tastes, our line-up will have something for you.

"The art and soul of the party"- Harper's Bazaar.
