Blues on the farm Voted Best British Blues Festival 2010 in the British Blues Awards, our festival is staged in a 40 acre setting on the Sussex Coastal plain a couple of miles south of Chichester. Blues on the Farm has a big reputation for presenting high quality music from World-class musicians.
Blues on the Farm has a big reputation for presenting high quality music from World-class musicians, in a family friendly, safe and relaxed area, the primary objective of the event is to stage high quality music from world-class musicians, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
A couple of years ago the festival was featured in The Sunday Times who dubbed it "The friendliest festival in the UK"; while The Independent has also reported very favourably on the festival, highlighting in particular the "astounding precision" of the event’s organization and likening it to “ A little piece of the Mississippi Delta on the Chichester Plain”
The camping sites are alotted on a first come first served basis so the earlier you arrive the nearer you will be to the Blues Field, but, wherever you camp you are never more than a few hundred metres away from the action.
On arrival we ask you to report to the camping H.Q. where Barry or Pat will check your tickets and guide you to your place in the relevant field. Once there, we ask you respectfully, to pitch your tent with the minimum of fuss and not to take up more room than is necessary, there will be many people wanting to share the area with you!
There are plenty of council wheelie bins dotted about around the camping area and we do ask you to bag and dispose of your rubbish neatly. We are trying to get a bit more recycling going this year with the help of Chichester District Council - more of this at a later date.
There are plenty of Portaloos around the site, all of which are cleaned and replenished every morning. There is also a dump tank for the motor caravanners and we ask them NOT to use the Portaloos for emptying their toilets. There are also standpipes with fresh water at intervals throughout the fields.
After each night's performance when you return to the camp site, please be considerate and keep the noise down, you will have many neighbours both on and off site and noise is one factor which will govern our licence in the future.
Our Security Stewards will be on patrol 24 hours and any emergencies at night should be referred to them or to the Security Caravan which will be clearly marked.
When you leave, please take all your camping gear with you - we have a job disposing of the general rubbish and we hope you will assist by not adding to "the mountain".
Our Festival Licence depends on many factors all of which are concerned with YOUR safety and we ask you to help us retain that licence for your future enjoyment.
Two items which concern the campers - No Fires and No Animals !
Open fires for cooking or otherwise, are strictly banned for obvious reasons, legitimate cooking appliances and proper BBQs which are clear of the ground are permitted but we do ask you to be careful. We have never had a major disaster at Blues and we are determined to keep it that way.
