Cleckheaton Situated in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, right in the middle of the West Yorks Conurbation, with Leeds, Bradford and Halifax, Huddersfield and Dewsbury all approx the same short distance away. Affectionately known by the locals (and regular visitors) as Cleckhuddersfax, Cleckheckmondsedge or just plain Clecky, the name is a corruption due to J.B. Priestley (1894-1984) and his writings, Clekywyke being the setting for “When we are married”.
Every year Cleckheaton plays host to the Cleckheaton Folk Festival. Attracting folk fans from around the country for a host of different events in this historic town.
There's still a while yet before acts for 2016 start to be announced, so you'll have to hold tight until December but the proud to be Yorkshire festival is sure to have enough folk music to keep your taste buds tantalized.
