Edinburgh Jazz Festival was set up in 1978 by banjo-player and guitarist, Mike Hart. Mike's initial focus was on traditional jazz and a host of events taking place for free admission in pubs. By the mid-80's the Festival had added ticketed events, and had broadened its musical policy to encompass swing and mainstream jazz and occasionally some more modern groups.
Taking over the city and forming part of the beginning of the Edinburgh festival season, the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival gets better and better year on year.
Over 150 concerts will take place over 10 days as well as club gigs, jam sessions, street parties and family friendly events throughout the duration. A wide range of renowned artists are attending the festival in 2016 so dont miss out.
