Music in the Park

When the concept of Music in the Park was first mooted, it was clear that to make it work, we would need an enthusiastic band of committed volunteers, but also some finance and additional administrative support to help get it off the ground. We worked with Thame Town Council, who provided seed funding and unstinting support to Music in the Park. Indeed, former Thame Mayor Nigel Champken-Woods was Chairman of the organising committee for several years, and his wife Alison is still an enthusiastic member of the committee. Without Thame Town Council's invaluable contribution and support, it would never have happened.

After four years of fruitful collaboration and successful events, the Music in the Park organising committee has now taken over complete responsibility for the event. Thame Town Council was keen to redeploy its administrative resources in other areas and to see Music in the Park continue to flourish standing on its own two feet. The committee has also evolved and includes members with experience in all the aspects of making an event a success. They were keen to take on the responsibility.

Music in the Park 2015 was the first one that the committee organised independently. It was a seamless transition. All proceeds from the event will continue to be invested in Thame and the organising committee still comprises a band of enthusiastic volunteers whose aim is to provide the residents of Thame with a fun-packed day out that also provides lasting benefit to those residents in the shape of improved amenities.
