About
Positive Vibration – Festival of Reggae is an award-winning metropolitan festival, which celebrates and showcases reggae music and wider Jamaican culture.
What started as a small garden event in 2013 has now grown into a multi-venue, multi-arts festival taking place across the Baltic Triangle, Liverpool.
The festival encompasses a world class live music programme, an international art exhibition, Q&A, record fair & market, food & drink and creative & educational workshops for children & young people.
Live Music
Past performers have included legendary artists, such as Lee “Scratch” Perry, Sister Nancy, The Selecter, Jah Shaka, Scientist, Mad Professor, Channel One, Roni Size, Misty in Roots, Macka B, Capital Letters, Adrian Sherwood, Mungo’s Hi Fi, Dreadzone, Don Letts, Saxon Sound System, Carroll Thompson, Dennis Bovell, Aba Shanti-I, Trojan Records, Sir Coxsone Outernational, Dub Pistols, plus loads more.
Art of Reggae
The Art of Reggae Exhibition is a successful collaboration between Positive Vibration and the International Reggae Poster Contest (IRPC). The exhibition showcases 100 reggae-inspired posters, designed by illustrators & artists from all over the world.
The 100 posters are shortlisted from over 1000 submissions. Last year, we received 1,300 submissions from illustrators & artists in 65 different countries.

Reggae Q&A
A very important aspect of the festival is our panel discussion, at which, we discuss the impact of reggae on British music, culture & society.
The panel is led by a mix of musicians, performers and industry experts. Previous speakers have included Pauline Black (The Selecter), Carroll Thompson, Blacker Dread, Mykaell Riley (Steel Pulse), Dennis Bovell and John Robb.
Workshops
Each year, we host a number of creative, educational and performance workshops, including dub poetry with Levi Tafari, Jamaican dance classes with Merseyside Dance Initiative, arts & crafts with Square Pegs, Capoeira & drum classes with Capoeira For All, theatre and performance with Staged Kaos.
