Priory Park Festival
Priory Park Festival is part of PP100. It is Priory Park’s birthday this September so come and join the celebrations.
Entry to the Park is free and the Little Big Top of music and the Live Lounge is just £10 a day, or £25 for the whole weekend.
100 years ago the 7th Duke of Richmond gave the Park to all the people of the City, for their leisure and as a memorial to the fallen in the First World War. Both aspects will be marked in a ten-day programme, starting with some cake and a jazz and blues opening night party and with the celebrations culminating in a special drumhead service. It will be a case of spectacle, ceremonial, music, fun and party in the park.
Highlights include a parachute jump by RN Raiders, a re-enactment of the 1642 Siege of Chichester, a display of vintage Rolls-Royces, a record-breaking attempt at the world’s biggest teddy bears’ picnic and vintage bowls, hockey and cricket matches. To celebrate in style we have a fantastic jazz, Latin and blues opening night party on the Friday, the Saturday has a roster of the very best of local bands and artists headed up by the fabulous Hoosiers, and Sunday is headlined by the man the Chi Obs called the best music act they had ever seen after he walked away with the plaudits at last year’s festival: the wonderful Jim Cregan with Cregan and Co.
