10 August - 13 August 2018
Solarsphere Astronomical & Music Festival is a small, family friendly 'Star Camp' in Wales where you can learn about the Cosmos in an informal, relaxed setting.
If the sun is out, there will be opportunity to look through specialist solar telescopes to view the activity on the Sun, and if you don't have your own scope to bring to look at the night sky, don't worry, we have the lovely Jonathen and Tracey from the North Wales Astronomy Society and the awesome guys (James and Steven) from Cosmos Planetarium, who will share their knowledge and scopes in our public viewing area on the Astronomers field. All we need are clear skies!
In addition to the practical, there are plenty of interesting talks throughout the weekend from leading scientists such as Astronomy Journalist, Author and Presenter,Will Gater, plus, Senior Scientific Advisor for The European Space Agency, Professor Mark McCaughrean!
Not to forget of course, 'Fancy dress Friday' for those who want to take part! (It's SciFi & Music themed 'let your hair down' night), wonderful live music, children's space workshops and art and craft activities that the whole family can get involved with, a pop up Solarsphere choir (no singing experience required.... just join in and learn a few songs ready for your live performance)!, Voyager storyboarding workshop, and more... SEE WEBSITE FOR FULL LINE UP! www.solarsphere.events
This hidden gem of a festival offers great value for money with the majority of the activities being free! Camping is free!, Showers are free!, parking is free! Adult tickets are £45, 13-16 years are £20, and guess what.... children 12 and under are....FREE!
Please tell your friends about us!
Many thanks,
Sarah & Pete (Organisers)

A lovely working farm which has diversified to allow events to be held there. The perfect setting for Solarsphere!
Even if the weather let's us down, the music, talks, catering, bar and activities are indoors in the barns, so your weekend won't be ruined getting soaked watching bands! There is an outdoor sitting area if the weather is nice where you can still see and hear the music too.

FREE camping.
There are B&B's in the locality that can be booked at the attendees own cost.
FREE camping - tents, caravans, campervans all welcome. First come first served, so get there as early as you can for your pitch. Some places a little hilly but still awesome!
FREE parking by tents to save your legs! (now we're spoiling you)!
FREE showers
PROPER toilet block with soft loo roll :) cleaned and replenished regularly!
NO electric hook ups, but who needs them anyway! There are sockets in the shower area for hairdryers etc..
It's dark here, so do remember a torch! If you want to look through telescopes on the top field at night, also bring a RED LIGHT torch (you can get them for a good price on ebay)! White light is not permitted on the top field as it disrupts observing and imaging so we all follow this simple etiquette for a better Astronomical experience. Thank you.
IF you have Astronomical equipment and want to camp in the top field, you must use red light only in tents/campers as well as torches so as not to interfere with observing and imaging opportunities.
See website for guidance of what to bring if camping :)
There is a train station near by, however, even though it's do-able (plenty of people have done it) it's probably not the easiest/cheapest option... just get a friend with a car to come and pay for their ticket! Will be easier and cheaper ;)
You can always join our FB page and ask if anyone from your area is travelling to the fest too. Car sharing is a great option! :)
On site catering. Festival type food, ie, burgers, chips, but the venue also do salad pots and pasta pots made to order, jacket potatoes, there is normally chili or curry which can be served with rice or chips, and there are usually a couple of veggie options too. Cooked breakfasts (including veggie sausages option) available in the mornings.
Self catering on the campsite if people wish to, but please keep own food and drink by tents, they are not permitted to be brought into the venue itself. Thank you.
Easy to find (Next door to the Royal Welsh Showground)! Take a left up the small track to the farm instead of turning right into the Welsh showground itself.
The post code will take you to the Farm House! The Festival entrance is the next one along near the roundabout! (it will be signposted with our yellow Solarsphere signs). PLEASE SEE THE WEBSITE MAP.
