The Orkney Folk Festival was first held in 1982 and has become a celebration nof traditional Orkney music, dance and culture, for one weekend each May. It brings together musicians, storytellers, poets, dramatists, dancers and of course their audiences. The festival is held in Stromness and attracts many visitors as well as local.
2015 is the 33rd annual Orkney Folk Festival and it takes place across a range of venues in Stromness and the surrounding areas. It is the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of both established and new folk, traditional and roots musicians as well as local traditional events and activities. Acts confirmed for 2015include Seth Lakeman, Sharon Shannon, The Chair, Dallahan, Fara, Gnoss, Haltadans, The Lowland Linties and Ward Thomas.
