The Vibraphonic Festival is based in Exeter and takes place every Spring. The first festival took place in 2004 and has become an integral part of the city's rich and varied Festivals and Events programme. It is supported and funded by Exeter City Council who work in partnership with local promoters and venues. Since 2008 the festival has been coordinated by Patrick Cunningham and Aaron Hornibrook, who formed a new company responsible for the coordination and management of the festival-Vibraphonic Festival Ltd.
Over the years Vibraphonic has been responsible for bringing major names in the industry to the city, from the worlds of Jazz, Funk, Soul, Urban, Hip Hop, Drum and Bass, Dubstep and much more, including Dizzee Rascal, Maceo Parker, Femi Kuti, Mr Scruff, Horace Andy, DJ Yoda, Gilles Peterson, Chipmunk, Neil Cowley Trio, Roy Ayers, and Pendulum.
Despite difficult financial times and funding cutbacks, Vibraphonic looks set to stay on the Festival map for many years to come and continue to attract top names to the city.
