2016 marks the 42nd Winchester Hair Fair and it is proud to be Britain’s longest running festival of street theatre and outdoor arts. It is a week-long event which takes over the town between 1st and 3rd July.
It is a true celebration of the local community, arts and music and it is a 100% free festival where entertainers perform simply for money to be thrown into their hats like traditional street artists. It is a popular event with support from local business and it truly takes over the historic centre of Winchester.
There are no acts confirmed for 2016 yet but for three days performers will stake their place on the streets or perform on the go and it’s all enjoyable for no fee at all, just what you fancy popping in the hats of the performers as you pass.
