Liverpool Sound City, the 3 day international music, media and technology conference and live arts and music festival returns in May with another compelling line up. Including Professor Green.
Acclaimed for its bold and innovative programming and forward thinking conference, Liverpool Sound City is focused on the future, intent on bringing the best new music, film, art and more from all over the world to Liverpool. With the inaugural New York Sound City show taking place in March and further international shows to be announced, this is an incredibly exciting time for Sound City.
Liverpool Sound City is thrilled to announce Professor Green as one of their headliners. His debut album, ‘Alive Till I’m Dead’ crashed into the charts last year and went double-Gold, spawning four hit singles, singles with ‘I Need You Tonight’, ‘Just Be Good To Green’, ‘Monster’ and 'Jungle' amassing over 500,000 sales. The size of his army of Facebook friends – 1.3 million – tells it like it is: Professor Green is head and shoulders above any of his peers. His second album is due for release this summer and he will be premiering tracks from it at Liverpool Sound City.
White Denim, the Texas four piece who blend garage, progressive and psychedelic rock and are hugely lauded for their blistering live sets will perform tracks from their five revered and varied long players.
Also performing are psychedelic electronic innovators, Death In Vegas, playing tracks from their ‘Trans Love Energies’ album. The record marks a return to their roots in minimal techno, deploying the rudimentary gear behind all the classics of the original Detroit / Chicago era to try and spirit up fresh atmospheres.
Cloud Nothings, Yukon Blonde, Charli XCX, and Fixers showcase the new talent that Sound City is renowned for promoting.
Liverpool Sound City is proud to be hosting the UK Music Student Awards at the Echo Arena on 17th May. Launched by George Martin, the awards are in collaboration with Access To Music and are hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Edith Bowman. For 8 years this unique event has celebrated, identified and supported new talent within music education including Ed Sheeran and affirms Access To Music’s position as the link between the industry and music education. The awards and Access To Music programme give the stars of tomorrow an amazing opportunity to shine today with recognition directly from the music industry.
Dave Pichilingi, CEO Sound City comments:
"We're thrilled to announce the first wave of bands that'll make up the line-up for Liverpool Sound City 2012 - an eclectic mix of genres that makes our festival such an interesting, innovative, must-see event. We're taking Sound City to whole new level this year by bringing in Access To Music and co-hosting the UK Music Student Awards, which shows our commitment to the new breed of musicians and those who work in the music industry, as well as being a great excuse for a party. We're also launching our very own Sound City Expo - an exhibition of what's new and interesting in music and tech for fans, bands and delegates alike."
