Hot on the trail of the first wave of acts confirmed, The Great Escape today announces the next exciting installment of artists set to play this year’s festival, taking place May 16th-18th 2013 across Brighton in 30+ venues.

Adding to an already impressive line-up, bulging with new and emerging talent, the latest additions continue to whet the appetite of music lovers and uphold The Great Escape’s position as Europe’s leading festival for new music.

Firmly established as the UK’s answer to SXSW and now in its eighth year, TGE is primed to offer a programme that transcends the boundaries of genres to give music lovers a medley of sounds: Those in need of a fix of unhinged hip-hop can look to IGGY AZALEA and BROOKE CANDY but will be equally charmed by the alt-country homegrown harmonies of LITTLE GREEN CARS. Brighton-based THE EIGHTIES MATCHBOX B-LINE DISASTER, famed for ferocious live performances, will play across town from 90s Americana masters MAZES, while DJ/Producer TODDLA T SOUND will bring his phenomenal mixes to the seaside. The infectious tunes of MAUSI will herald the arrival of summer in the city, whilst crowds will be entertained by pop culture rap satirists THE MIDNIGHT BEAST**, or whisked back to The Cavern by wunderkind four piece, THE STRYPES.

Taking to the Brighton Dome stage in 2013 is the legendary BILLY BRAGG*, whose impassioned outlook has inspired countless audiences and artists alike in his 30-year career.

Bragg comments: “With my new band and new sounding record, I feel as excited now as I did when my first album 'Life's A Riot with Spy vs Spy' came out all those years ago, so it's brilliant to be invited to play at The Great Escape alongside such a great roster of new acts. I'm really looking forward to coming back to the Brighton Dome too - I've always had such a brilliant time there."

Today, the festival can also release details of performances from KAMP! and DANIEL DRUMZ, who will appear as part of the standalone showcase, ‘Don’t Panic! We’re From Poland’, presented by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, lead International partner for 2013.

Running alongside the festival is The Great Escape convention, which will once again host a variety of insightful industry talks, panel debates, targeted networking sessions and keynote interviews for industry professionals and music business fans. Attended by over 3000 delegates from over 25 different countries in 2012, this year’s convention has already confirmed Arts Council England Chief Executive Alan Davey and Co-Owner of Rough Trade Retail Stephen Godfroy as keynote speakers, as well as chats with some of the most admired managers – including Brian Message (Radiohead and Nick Cave) and Garry Blackburn (Madness) – in the business, with lots more to be announced soon.
