Slowpoke Announce Summer Parties 2011

Now a fond favourite in the hearts and minds of many, Slowpoke is a party made by, and made for, people who appreciate quality. The music provides a warm and unhurried build up to the end of the night.

Friday June 10th

Canadian James Teej and Berlin´s Till Von Sein are two of the most interesting and unique DJ/producers of the moment.  For the past five years, house producer James Teej has been bubbling up in the fertile Toronto club scene with solid cuts on labels like Rebirth, My Favorite Robot, and No. 19.  Constantly pushing sonic boundaries, all the while exploring the deepest recesses of house and techno, his music has been enjoyed the world over.

He’s a heavily acclaimed DJ and producer with releases on labels like Supplement Facts, Suol and Dirt Crew Recs, collaborations with Tigerskin, Aera, Chopstick, Catz´n´Dogz, with remixes on Ministry of Sound, Plastic City and many others. own London taste makers Brian Monaco and Gower Ramsey bring their welcomed and valued support.

July 8th

In July Slowpoke pick up their sticks and head to one of the most musically rich cities in the world, Berlin.   They take with them the legendary Andrew Weatherall, who over the course of his long and storied career as a producer, DJ, musician, label boss and fanzine writer, has always maintained his idealism and principles as well as his extremely wide-ranging tastes.  Having started back in the late 80s DJing the backroom at Shoom in South London, he was also instrumental in setting up seminal record  label/magazine/club night Boy’s Own.

German trio Trickski coalesced in Berlin around 2001. Their music traverses levels of time and space, ranging from dense headphone landscapes to frantic dance floor numbers. Their openness to many sides has won them friends and critical acclaim, quickly filling the record cases of international DJs across all genres - Carl Craig featured their first single “Sweat“ on his legendary Fabric 25 compilation, which gave Trickski‘s kick off an extra push.

August 28th

Back in the UK we welcome Slowhands on the August bank holiday. Slowhand’s productions include one on the recent Wolf + Lamb vs Soul Clap DJ Kicks emotive remix alongside Zev + Gadi for the 50th release on Will Saul´s Simple Records. His sounds deal in heart-warming soul, and are alive with well-placed and well played instruments and breathe plenty of sultry life into the current slo-mo house revolution.

After we missed Ben Westbeech back in April, we make it up by having him down to perform a live PA on the night. Super talented London singer, producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Ben comfortably creates music that draws on strong influences from R&B, drum´n´bass, and house as well as obscure vintage soul and funk. With a voice like honey Ben is also a talented producer that eclipses a diverse spectrum of music, and looks set to be a highlight for Slowpoke.

Skillfully blending a hybrid of house, techno and deep groove with the slinky disco player, Tornado Wallace is discretely taking the world by storm and completed the line-up on the night. Hailing from Melbourne, the Australian wunderkind delivered three standout releases last year; his Never Dies EP on Sleazy Beats followed by the triumphant Paddlin´ EP and ‘Always Twirling’on, both on Jimpster´s Delusions Of Grandeur imprint, promoted Wallace to the premier league of deep house and disco.

Italian born Luca C brings support. After remixing Ali Love and releasing the sought after Double Drop edits EP along with Sebastiano ´Brigante´ Properzi, Luca signed to Southern Fried Records and have engaged the talents of Ali Love, Robert Owens and Roisin Murphy along the way.
