Festival Crowd Header

Party hard with Led Zeppelin, get up-close and personal with a Green Man music star and witness a rare live performance from the godfather of dub-poetry

The Green Man Literature Tent is the perfect place to stimulate the old grey matter amid the magic and mischief of our 10th anniversary celebrations.

Pop in from 12noon to 6pm daily to experience a vibrant and varied line-up of poets, authors, journalists, politicians, musicians and comedians, all united by one simple passion: words.

Funny, thought-provoking, inspiring and enlightening, let your imagination run riot with a little Welsh lyricism, a few ripping yarns, the odd tall tale and shaggy dog stories galore

Here are the latest Literature acts confirmed for Green Man 2012, in the heart of Wales’ breathtaking Black Mountains, from August 16-19:

Linton Kwesi Johnson - a rare live festival performance the godfather of dub poetry. Renowned and revered the world over, the man known as ‘LKJ’ became the second living poet - and the only black poet - to be published in the Penguin Modern Classic series. Poetic, polemic and political, this will be a treat.

Barney Hoskyns on Led Zeppelin - music journalist Barney Hoskyns lifts the lid on the band that - artistically and financially - represent the apex of Hard Rock in all its glory. Delve behind the music and get the inside story on the parties, the fights and the unmitigated, unapologetic bad behaviour of rock gods at the pinnacle of world stardom.

The Mojo Interview: Live! - an annual tradition and the stuff of Green man legend, which top music star from our 10thh anniversary line-up will follow in the footsteps of Josh T Pearson, Billy Bragg and Donovan by giving a live one-on-one interview with Mojo Magazine in front of a capacity Literature Tent crowd? Standing room only for this one.

Leanne Wood in conversation with Rachel Trezise - a must-see conversation between politician Leanne Wood - the republican socialist who earlier this year became leader of Plaid Cymru, the national party of Wales - and acclaimed author Rachel Trezise, winner of the inaugural Dylan Thomas Prize in 2006.

Luke Wright - award-winning wordsmith Luke Wright might just be the hardest working man in poetry. Since 2006 he’s launched his own curveball bid to become Poet Laureate, toured five solo stage shows, brought his contemporary poetry to primetime TV and become a poet-in-residence on BBC Radio 4's Saturday Live.

Gareth Potter - Gadael yr Ugeinfed Ganrif - during the dark days of the ’79 referendum, Wales lost its nerve and the Welsh rock scene was wallowing in nostalgia. But the raucous visit of the Sex Pistols to Caerphilly had stirred one schoolboy’s imagination…Readings from a heartfelt autobiographical adventure spanning 20 years from Cool Cymru to devolution.

PLUS we've just launched a competition to create your very own exclusive festival t-shirt design... with one lucky winning entry being made in to an official Green Man 2012 t-shirt, so if you’re a budding artist or graphic designer, or you just want to express your creative side, then we want to hear from YOU!
