Solas Festival 2011 line-up announced to include The Campbells, Emma Pollock, Michael Marra, Stanley Odd, Alan Greenspan and more.

Music From the Scottish ‘Trad’ staples of Michael Marra and The Campbells to the melodic moments of Emma Pollock and Stanley Odd’s Odd Squad of electro hip-hop, our music programme is as exceptional as it is eclectic. Other acts include, Iain Archer, The Starlets, Emily Smith, Alex Cornish and Bannal.

Film Film Producer Alan Greenspan is guilty of an extensive backlog of movie classics including Pushing Tin, High Fidelity and Donnie Brasco and will be showing and discussing his impressive biography over the weekend. Other films include, Of Gods and Men, Budrus, Great African Scandal and Whale Rider.

Talks/Literature Kathy Galloway is the director of Christian Aid Scotland, our partner group and will be one of many to open up a weekend of debate and discussion around our perceptions of “arts, faith and justice”. Other speakers include, Pete Ward, David McNair, Sol Oyuela, Gerry Hassan and Sr Karen D’Artois.

Children/Workshops From youth orientated activities such as Fischy Music, promoting emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing in children through songs, to Litography and a gospel choir, Solas Festival actively encourages audience involvement and a sense of community.

Solas Festival is an all-age weekend with a vivid mix of music, debate, theatre, comedy, film and visual art. Reaching out to create a hospitable space where all sorts of people can go to debate, create, perform or just enjoy the vibes.
