A new music event – the Mad March Weekend - is being held in Bedale, North Yorkshire. The Weekend is a two-day music gathering highlighting many up-and coming musicians, put together by the organisers of Bedale’s three-day music festival BAMfest.
Organiser John Knighton, said: “This weekend is to give musicians the opportunity to perform in our Festival bar and also see some great acts as we will be having a concert on both Friday and Saturday nights. Hopefully this will get everyone in the mood for BAMfest at the end of May!”
The event is being held at Aiskew Watermill in Bedale. Appearing on Friday March 20 will be Rita Payne, Aelfen and The Alligators. Appearing on Saturday March 21 will be Fireside Nights, The Nick Rooke Band and Cathryn Craig and Brian Willoughby. As well as the music, there will be camping available on the site from £5 per person per night.
Weekend tickets are £25. Friday concert ticket is £12 and Saturday all-day ticket is £18. There are plans for a beer festival, featuring Yorkshire ales and as well as a food festival during the weekend. Full details are on the BAMfest website – www.bamfest.co.uk.
“The idea is to have a mini-festival before the main event, featuring bands who rarely play in our area, who deserve to be heard. There will plenty of time for sessions and singarounds. And, if popular, the plan is to make this an annual event.
“Because it is a BAMlive event we have a great mix of artists appearing during the weekend – Rita Payne are a fantastic Yorkshire duo who have been creating a stir on the festival scene, Alefen are a young lively folk rock band from Wakefield, and The Alligators are a great rocking R& B trio who will lift the rafters.
“On the Saturday we have the charming Fireside Knights, followed by The Nick Rooke Band from Beverley and then wonderful Cathryn Craig and Brian Willoughby (ex-Strawbs). It promises to be quite a weekend!”
Another BAMlive concert is being held in Bedale, North Yorkshire in the build-up to the third Bedale Acoustic Music Festival (BAMfest) held between May 29 and 31st.
On Sunday April 26 from 2pm, Scottish singer-songwriter Ewan McLennan will be appearing in a special afternoon, fresh from playing the Transatlantic Sessions in Glasgow. Support is from Keystone Acoustic.
Tickets, price £12 plus booking fee, are available from www.eventbrite.co.uk. The concert will also be held at Aiskew Watermill in Bedale. There will be a licensed bar, plus light refreshments and cakes available. Full details on the BAMfest website.
