Shrewsbury Folk Festival – another sell out year!

Organisers of Shrewsbury Folk Festival have revealed that all tickets have sold out with just under two months to go until the August Bank Holiday event.

The line up of the four day festival, held at the West Mid Showground close to Shrewsbury town centre, features Bellowhead, Seth Lakeman, Lau, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings and the Dhol Foundation.

Shrewsbury is no stranger to selling out in advance of the festival and festival director Alan Surtees said he believed the success of the 2013 festival and this year’s line meant tickets were snapped up well in advance.

He said: ‘Last year was an absolute belter of a festival – everything came together to create the most incredible atmosphere and everyone from visitors to musicians had a ball.

‘We have created a line up for this year which includes some festivalgoers’ favourites like Bellowhead and Seth but featuring the usual Shrewsbury twist with lesser know and foreign acts like Canadian JP Hoe and Molotov Jukebox, who will blow people away on Friday night.’

Alan added: ‘With ongoing improvements to the site, high production values and our commitment to enhance the festival experience for our visitor, we are sure it’s going to make another fabulous year.’

Anyone who has missed out on tickets can still take part in the festival by watching live online via a free webcast. Run by Shrewsbury based MicroVideo, the main stage performances will be broadcast live with footage from the second main stage being shown during downtime.

As well as five music stages and a dance tent, there will be dozens of workshops to get involved in, a children's festival, Refolkus - a dedicated youth programme for 12 to 25-year-olds, on-site camping, a craft fair and food village and real ale bars.
