Spiritualized, Band of Skulls and Summer Camp have confirmed they will be performing live at Save the Children’s Christmas Tree Sessions an evening of live music and festive readings at Islington’s Union Chapel on Thursday 14th December, coinciding with Save the Children’s official Christmas Jumper Day.

Spiritualized’s Jason Pierce:  ‘Childhood is very precious, it should be protected and celebrated. I am happy to play at the Christmas Tree Sessions, and support the work Save the Children does to change the lives of children for the better . The Union Chapel has a great atmosphere. Perfect for Christmas.’

Best-selling author/columnist Caitlin Moran, writer/broadcaster Stuart Maconie and Thick of It/Mock The Week’s Chris Addison will be contributing Christmas-themed readings and there will be a cameo comedy set from stand-up Lee Nelson.

They will be joining Fyfe Dangerfield, Josh Kumra and Kodaline for an evening of incredible live music in stunning surroundings all hosted by Lauren Laverne.

Lauren Laverne: “It’s great to be involved in a global charity that provides such essential work for children both in the UK and overseas, especially when I can help support them through two of my great passions – fashion and music.”

This intimate and inclusive evening will include all the magic of Christmas: the traditional tree, mulled wine, mince pies, audience sing-a-long, and the chance to customise your own bauble.. The event is being held on Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day so everyone will be encouraged to wear a festive jumper and there will be a photo booth to capture revellers in their classic knitwear.”

Christmas Tree Sessions supports Save the Children’s No Child Born To Die campaign. Millions of children around the world are denied the kind of childhood they deserve. Every day, they wake up to a world of hunger, disease and poverty. Support of the Christmas Tree Sessions will help us give more children the nutritious food they need and help them fight killer diseases and keep them safe. This Christmas, let's help more children wake up to a bright future.

Tickets are on sale now from Ticketline, priced at £40 plus booking fee.

Doors open 6.30pm.
