Whitwell Festival Returns

Festival Crowd Header

Whitwell Festival of Music, described by the press as ‘Derbyshire’s Best Kept Secret’, is now in its 6th year and will take place on the weekend of 5th, 6th and 7th September.

Featuring more than 25 acts over two stages during the weekend, plus an ever-expanding real ale and cider bar, quality food, craft stalls, music workshops, open mic opportunities and kids’ stuff, you need to make sure you get your tickets early as they are selling quickly.

The family-friendly festival is organised by volunteers from Whitwell Forward community group, and profits made from ticket sales are donated to local groups and charities.
This year sees flamboyant rockers best known for their chart-topping 80’s hit ‘Spirit in the Sky’ DOCTOR AND THE MEDICS headline the festival. Add to that the Celtic folk-rock band FEROCIOUS DOG, comedy-cabaret trio THE BAR-STEWARD SONS OF VAL DOONICAN, and DIRT BOX DISCO who feature on the Rimmel TV advert with Kate Moss.

The best of musical talent and entertainment from the local area and beyond includes James Warner Prophecies, The Natterjacks, The Orphans, I Set The Sea On Fire, Saint Jimmy, Black Thorn, The Sons of El Roacho, Offenders, Corinna Jane, The N’Ukes, Swamp Dog, Pete Jackson, DH Lawrence & the Vaudeville Skiffle Show, Sam Jones, Dukes of Pork, Big Tent & the Gypsy Lantern, Lippy Kid, Pat Cunningham, The Fallen, Blackfish, and Shimmy Armageddon & the Boxes of Chaos. With a diverse range of musical genres, there will be something to delight all tastes.
