The Masked Ball, one of the UK’s most innovative party events, has promised a rollercoaster ride of thrills and spine-tingling surprises with the announcement that the Halloween Masked Ball will take place in none-other than a Cornish theme park.
While famed for outlandish themes, otherworldly production and surreal stage sets, the acquisition of Flambards Theme Park, Helston, as a venue is sure to set the imagination alight.
Masked Ball director Kelvin Batt said: “We explored 24 sites across Cornwall assessing each one for access, its ability to withstand inclement weather, suitability as a music venue and general quirkiness.
“The Halloween Masked Ball will take over the whole of the theme park, including rides, taking those who dare on a mystical journey through 11 twisted venues right through the night.”
This year’s Halloween Masked Ball - based on The Day of the Dead, the famous Mexican festival where the deceased are celebrated by parties and dancing - will feature more fringe entertainment including walkabout theatre and improvised performance.
“With each event we strive to raise the bar with creative production, eclectic décor and attention to detail, all of which are as important as the stellar line-up in creating the perfect conditions to let loose,” added Kelvin.
Now in its eighth year, the Masked Ball attracts acts and performers from across the UK and Europe, as well as showcasing local talent. This year more than 60 acts have been booked to play - with the headline acts yet to be announced.
Billed to appear, so far, are: Aartekt, Barons of Funk, Blackdog, Bonebookbang, Boogaloo Dee, DJ Cheeba, DJ Food, DJ Moneyshot, Dr Rubberfunk, Drums of Death, Felix Dickinson, Frozen Thumbs DJs, Future Garden DJs, Jac The Disco, JellyJazz, Loose People, Mongolian Disco Show, Mungos Hi-Fi, Musk, New York Transit Authority, NYC Soundsystem, Optimo, Panda, Pete Isaac, Riton, Ry Spenceley, Sir Vinyl DJs, The Allergies, and The Occult.
There will be less camping at the venue than other Masked Ball events, but buses from all corners of Cornwall will be provided along with other transport options.
For those who like to retire in style, there will be a limited number of luxury accommodation packages. There will also be a campervan area.
To encourage car-sharing, vehicles with four occupants or more will park for free at the event. Full details of the transport and accommodation arrangements will be released towards the end of September.
Kelvin said: “Once again, we’ll be engaging the services of local suppliers wherever possible as well as supporting local causes.”
To date, more than £10,000 has been donated by event organisers to charities and needy causes.
Tickets for the event, then runs from 6pm to 6am, are now on sale at
