Summer has arrived and, as festival season kicks off across the country, The Big Feastival today unveils more exciting music artists and entertainment for its annual August bank holiday celebration.
The festival, which has become a firm favourite with families and foodies around the UK, has already confirmed an outstanding musical line up, including Mark Ronson (DJ Set), Tinie Tempah, Kaiser Chiefs, Foxes, DJ Fresh, Ella Henderson and Roisin Murphy, along with some of the world’s best chefs including Raymond Blanc, Tom Kerridge and, of course, Jamie Oliver
On Friday, Roland Gift from the Fine Young Cannibals will perform a mix of their classic tracks and newer songs to the festival crowds. North-eastern duo Seafret, who recently toured with James Bay, and singer/songwriter Callum Beattie, who has been hailed as one of the year’s hottest breakthrough artists, also join the line-up.
Saturday afternoon will see indie-favourites Reverend & The Makers descend on Kingham, playing songs from their 2015 album Mirrors, which received high praise from the likes of Noel Gallagher and Carl Barat. Feastival-goers will be treated to Liverpudlian four-piece Clean Cut Kid, whose songs have been described as possessing the whipsmart immediacy of classic radio-pop. Completing the line-up - Zak Abel, who BBC Radio 1Xtra named one of the hottest sounds of the last year, will also be bringing his distinctive and soulful vocals to Feastival.
On Sunday, Danny & The Champions of the World will be rolling out their unique mix of rock and soul music for all to enjoy whilst Nottingham’s electronic pop duo April Towers will be laying down their fresh tunes for the crowds.
Meanwhile, The Udder Stage will be hosting its own stellar line up of fresh talent and music from around the world. South African folk sensation Jeremy Loops will take to the stage along with Kuenta i Tambú, whose super-crunk party tunes have been praised by music bible Rolling Stone. Ekkah will be getting the crowds dancing to their gloriously funky disco-pop sound while social media sensations Showhawk Duo promise to bring the house down with their high energy classic dance covers. Closing The Udder Stage on Sunday with a special guest DJ Set will be none other than the brilliant DJ Yoda.
After the final performance each day, The Udder Stage will then host the hugely popular Silent Disco for Feastival-goers to dance the night away under the stars.
Over on the Bandstand, visitors can look forward to a unique line up of musical entertainment designed to delight their ears, move their feet and deliver a serious dose of good times. Friday will play host to the extraordinary talents of Duke – three voices, one guitar, NO backing tracks, looping or sampling and entirely born and bred in Cheltenham. That same day, Reggaerobics will be getting everyone hot in the coolest possible way with their bespoke mix of reggae and aerobics.
On Saturday, Gospeloke will be encouraging Feastival-goers to pick their favourite soulful song and belt it out with a full gospel-backing choir. Believe us – you will have never sounded so good singing Tina Turner. Later that night, the Bandstand will host a special 90’s House Party, winding back the years for everyone to enjoy.
On Sunday, Baby Loves Disco (a personal favourite of Feastival alumni Fat Boy Slim who recently hosted his own baby rave for them in Brighton) will be breaking out dance anthems for the whole family, whilst showering the crowds with glitter, bubbles and face paint. Rounding off the weekend will be Ultimate Power, encouraging everyone to rock out to the very best power ballads of all time.
With acoustic acts playing the Bandstand each afternoon and daily sets from the legend that is DJ BBQ, there’s something on the musical menu for everyone this year.
The Big Feastival is hosted on Alex James’ Cotswold farm and returns this summer bank holiday weekend (26th-28th August) for its fifth birthday celebration.
