Flava Bar Review

Flava Bar is the place to be from 7pm in Calan Porter, Menorca. Outrageous cocktails, immense DJs, theme nights, sexy bar staff and even a game of pool

It was the last week in June and we were off to Calan Porter, Menorca for a nice chilled out relaxing break in the sun, or so we thought…

It was our second night on the island and we popped our heads into what can only be described as absolute madness. It was called Flava Bar.

One of the first things you notice about Flava is that it smashes out some of the finest and sexiest tunes you can hear today. Everything from banging house and electro to old school garage to drum n bass and even topped off with a few sing along rock anthems towards the end of the night to wind down and all mixed by the main man himself, owner DJ Walls. It was superb.

The second thing you notice about Flava is the size of its bar (16m) and the sexy bar staff working behind it. You had Carla and Nicola who are both stunning and the cocktail maestro Dan whose specialty drink was called a Head Butt. An alcoholic, fruity and very mourish drink that would make you head butt the floor if you had too many. It was lovely but lethal.

After a chat with the friendliest bar staff around, we found ourselves a little merry and heading for the dance floor where everyone was having a right royal rave up. It was mental. There were people on the pole and on the end of the bar having the time of their lives all helped along by the banging tunes.

After a couple of hours raving it was time to grab another drink and head out to the terrace where they had tables and chairs and 40 inch screens showing all live sports. It was a perfect area to catch your breath, take in what you had just seen and prepare for the next few hours of madness.

Back inside we went and straight to the pool tables for a quick best of five doubles match that we lost badly. It was clearly the supersized vodkas with a dash of coke that was to blame for the poor performance. That was our excuse anyway.

We found ourselves back in the mix with everyone on the dance floor going mental and this is where we stayed until the doors shut at around 05:30. We then moved back out to the terrace sitting at a table with DJ Walls (Jose), a Temptations tribute band called Brothers of Soul, the sexy bar staff, a nutter called Steve and some locals until around 7am. So much for a chilled out week.

After this night of pure insanity we pretty much found ourselves in this bar every night for the rest of the week and to be honest, I would not have wanted it any other way. Every night had a different feel. They do themed nights, karaoke nights, wet t shirt competitions and a whole lot more. It would have been criminal to walk straight past the liveliest bar in Calan Porter.

A massive thanks to everyone there for turning our chilled out relaxing evenings into something completely crazy. Hats off to you all.

Will I be going back?
Most definitely.
Would I recommend it?
Without a shadow of a doubt.
