The new world music festival also announced that BBC 6 Music’s Craig Charles will be headlining the Global DJ Day on the opening Friday with his much loved Funk & Soul Club.

The new world music festival also announced that BBC 6 Music’s Craig Charles will be headlining the Global DJ Day on the opening Friday with his much loved Funk & Soul Club.

The DJ, who is also well known for staring in TV shows Red Dwarf, Robot Wars and Coronation Street, will have presented the weekly BBC 6 Music radio show for a decade in March but his passion for all things funky and soulful shows no sign of slowing:

“Since its inception I have been interested in all varieties of soul and funk music, without imposing any barriers and I am just as enthusiastic about fresh new talent as I am about the classic artists from the golden age of the 60s and 70s” said Craig.

The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club joins headliners Tony Allen and Lee “Scratch” Perry, who top Afrikaya Saturday and Kayabbean Sunday respectively, in forming a top class bill of world music at the inaugural Kaya Festival.
