TRNSMT 2020 Reveals Huge Second Wave Of Artists

Festival Crowd Header

After being met with vast demand, TRNSMT 2020 is shaping up to be a defining weekend in this summer's festival season - as 150,000 fans flock to Glasgow Green to make new TRNSMT memories.

After revealing the headliners and first batch of performers at the end of 2019, a huge new wave of acts have been confirmed across three stages, delivering the festival line-up bound to elicit unbelievable scenes from the greatest crowd on the planet.

Joining headliners Lewis Capaldi, Liam Gallagher and Courteeners, a true breadth in styles and sounds are primed to make their mark on Glasgow Green this summer. Responsible for arguably the defining party anthem of the past 12 months, AJ Tracey is primed to continue his rise at TRNSMT 2020. In ‘Ladbroke Grove’ and his self-titled debut album (charting in the Top 5 and scooping plaudits across the board), the Londoner has demonstrated a fresh twist on the modern UK rap revolution, taking him to mammoth festival moments and sold out headline arena shows as a result. Dermot Kennedy knows a thing or two about these big stages. The Brit nominated Irish songwriter has emerged as one of the most talked about artists in the past year, with his earnest tales and powerful tones taking his debut album ‘Without Fear’ to the top of the charts both in his native Ireland and the UK. Poised for a passionate reaction, get ready for the next step in his ascent to the very top at TRNSMT 2020. Firmly on the pulse of 2020, his set is guaranteed to be a highlight of the weekend. Weaving his own charming take on hip-hop, Loyle Carner has emerged as one of this generation’s most astute wordsmiths. Latest album ‘Not Waving, But Drowning’ cemented his reputation as a truly unique artist, serving up arena-sized shows with ease and lining up bouncing crowds for each and every track.

Likewise, Amy Macdonald is ready to serenade Glasgow Green this summer, with her timeless tales and singalong bursts with hits such as ‘This Is The Life’ and ‘Mr Rock & Roll’ bound to be a highlight in the heart of her hometown. Fizzing with grunge kicks and heartfelt  songwriting, it’s clear why Beabadoobee has become a go-to name when it comes to the artists primed to bag 2020 for their own. Rising out of the Dirty Hit staple of incredible new artists, she’s scooped nominations and 2020 tips at every turn and for good reason - with ripping tracks and EPs of gold already out in the world. The countdown to the next big thing begins now, and by the time TRNSMT 2020 comes around, be ready to see a superstar stepping out on stage. Stacked with acclaim also is Georgia, whose return with new album ‘Seeking Thrills’ has ignited the biggest stages and reaction of her career. Full of sad-pop bops, ‘About Work The Dancefloor’ and ‘Never Let You Go’ are born for big festival moments with TRNSMT 2020 ready and waiting. Getting the crowd going on Glasgow Green, Yxng Bane will make his TRNSMT debut, bringing his fusion of afrobeat hits and unstoppable party-groovers perfect for a summer day in the heart of Glasgow. Alternative rock giants Jimmy Eat World know how to serve up a true festival moment. For over 20 years, the Arizona natives have led the way when it comes to hands in the air festival moments and with the likes of ‘Sweetness’, ‘Pain’ and ‘The Middle’ in their back-catalogue, their special appearance at TRNSMT is bound to follow suit.

Speaking about playing TRNSMT 2020, Amy Macdonald said:
"This will be my first TRNSMT and it’s amazing to be able to play a huge festival in the middle of my home town which has become such an important showcase for Scotland’s rich musical talent. I’m so excited to be back in front of the great Glasgow crowd and relish the challenge of proving just how much women can really rock on the big festival stage.”

The thrills keep coming, with indie-prince Declan McKenna marking his return to the spotlight this summer with a glistening set on Glasgow Green. After the storming success of his debut album ‘What Do You Think About The Car?’ and a landmark set at TRNSMT 2018 draped in a yellow cagoule, you’d be a fool to think his return in 2020 with new album ‘Zeroes’ in tow will be anything less than elevating. BBC 6Music favourites and one of the most all-encompassing new bands of the past six months, The Murder Capital will make their TRNSMT bow for what’s sure to be a powerful and emotional release in keeping with the stunning beauty of their debut album ‘When I Have Fears’, whilst the high-flying fourpiece Sea Girls bring the palpable joy with their infectious guitar hooks strapped across each and every track - continuing a journey that has seen them plastered across radio dials and venues up and down the UK. Expect ‘All I Wanna Hear You Say’, ‘Damage Done’ and ‘Violet’ to go off by the time July comes around. A set that has all the makings of a classic, Ms Banks heads to Glasgow Green this summer, taking her cocktail of styles and sounds to emphatic new heights when a live setting comes calling. After appearing on stage and collaborating with a plethora of big-time stars, it’s now time for Ms Banks to truly take over.

Whether it’s the hit-chimes of Coventry MC Jay1, side-splitting indie revivalists Sports Team opening the TRNSMT Main Stage to the crowning new tones of Joy Crookes, the punk rips of The Regrettes, one of North England’s brightest guitar hopefuls The Lathums, garage-laced pop gems from Miraa May, anthemic Irish four-piece Picture This, sweeping stripped-back cuts from Ryan McMullan, indie legends Ash and more - there’s something for everyone at TRNSMT 2020.
