The first of Boomtown’s individual district announcements for Chapter 9 kicks off with the rambunctious punk and ska haven, Chinatown. Having already released some of the biggest names from the ska and punk world in the main headliners announcements, including The Specials, Sublime with Rome, Skindred, Slightly Stoopid, Reel Big Fish, Hoffmaestro, Hepcat,  Eskorzo, Ska'N'Ska, Chainska Brassika and The Ska Vengers. The full lineup for the four stages of Chinatown has just released an additional 90+ acts across punk, ska, punk-ska and folk-punk.

The main stage for ska-punk, psychobilly lovers is the one and only Devil Kicks Dancehall. Hosted by the Last Gang in Town, DKDH is filled with hot rods and quiffs, where the sounds of rhythmic double bass are as familiar as the riff of a ska horn section or a well handled harmonica! On the bill for this year are Nashville originals The Legendary Shack Shakers, the boisterous alternative ska punk rock of King Prawn, ska revivalists The Planet Smashers, Vancouver's 5-piece The Dreadnoughts, who are set to bring their energising mix of sea shanties and celtic folk punk. Confrontational political UK punk rock from the Blaggers ITA, as well as Boomtown regulars such as New Town Kings, JB Conspiracy, Pronghorn, Counting Coins, Firepit Collective, and many more.

Over in Chinatown Courtyard ska and reggae from all over the world is celebrated as well as big UK names such as 9-piece The Dualers, Cardiff dwelling Astroid Boys merge the punk, hardcore and grime, Swedish rockabilly band Top Cats, the Spanish innovative fusion of Balkan-ska and Krazy-Klezmer Spin Te Kú. Italian ska jazz, balkan, reggae Empatee du Weiss, London’s Maroon Town who rejuvenated the global Ska scene in the 1990’s, and a whole heap of others such as Cut Capers, Los Albertos, Mad Apple Circus and many more…

The Last Stand provides a more intimate, up close and personal setting as Chinatown’s very own bandstand, bringing hidden gems into the sun to fill the streets with their raw acoustic rapture! Line up includes; The Hydropaths, The Brewer’s Daughter, Mercurius Rising, Efa Supertramp, FFTP, Joe Yorke,  Fabian Maddison, Will Wood, Tim Loud, Jake and the Jellyfish, John Fairhurst, Perkie, Jake Martin, Nosebleed, Joe Tilston, Adam Kahn.

One of Chinatown’s longest running Street Venues, the Freak Boutique has received an upgrade and will be hosting a plethora of live bands from anarcho dub punk to the infectiously ramshackle and positively weird country and blues… with acts such as Autonomads, One Eyed God and Rev Schnider and His Band of Angels.

Other confirmed Street Venues for Chinatown this year are; Rokokos Emporium, Bang Hai TeleCon, Dubtendo, So Fun Tek, Alan’s Bang Hai Studio, Digital Funfair, Madame Wrong’s Take-Away and Dissocia.

Chinatown is just one of the many districts of Boomtown, other districts include Wild West, Oldtown, Mayfair, Whistlers Green, DSTRKT 5 and Barrio Loco. Full district lineups will be  released every Wednesday at 1pm from 15th February.
