BookStock 2012

The Book Club’s street festival Bookstock returns for 2012 on Sunday August 26th, bringing festival magic to Shoreditch, and getting everyone in the party mood!

Celebrate the last bank holiday of 2012 with a whole day dedicated to music, dancing, dressing up, games, great food and flowing booze – and a whole lot of festival fun besides. Brought to you by Shoreditch venue The Book Club, Bookstock is Leonard Street’s answer to the summer festivals – and it’s a seriously big deal, with two new arenas, and even slicker production and sound for this year.

The Book Club is currently working on a super-eclectic lineup to ROCK your socks off, locking in a live performance from the biggest band yet to play one of its street events, as well as a supersonic event-within-an-event, even more live antics, art, performance and all the festival fun you can imagine – right in the heart of London’s creative East End. A FREE street festival, Bookstock comprises several arenas, each offering the very best festival experiences. Music comes from live acts, DJs, dance troupes and performers.

There’s fancy dress, face-painting, temporary tattoos, and all the fun of the fair. Entertainment comes from all corners, where everything has a musical twist – and everyone gets involved. Fill your bellies with delicious festival-inspired treats, and try every tipple on the menu at The Book Club’s special outdoor bar. There will be secret, silent, chill-out, and all-out party zones. Bookstock really does have something for every single festival-goer.

The Book Club launched Bookstock in 2011 as a standalone street festival event. Last year saw a packed lineup that included an explosive show from The Correspondents, Little Boots playing a bouncy party set, a pounding show from Tim Lawton (Filthy Dukes), Brass Roots playing classic after classic in their own inimitable style, a packed silent disco arena with the Disco Shed, fun and games with Musical Bingo, and a big song and dance from Sink the Pink, Swing Patrol and Electro Swing. And this time will be even bigger and better! The lineup is under wraps for now, but Bookstock 2012 looks set to take the street festival to the next level!

Bookstock is BACK for round two, taking the street festival and twisting it on its head. Sing, dance, listen, watch, pose, pout and join in the fun. Come and see Leonard Street give it some welly!
