Electronic superstars Chase & Status will be headlining an Eden Session on Wednesday July 4. Special guest on the evening will be Labrinth.
The London duo, otherwise known as Saul Milton and Will Kennard, are returning to Eden having headlined the sell-out Rumble in the Jungle show at the Project in May 2010.
They are due to release their as yet untitled third studio album this year, following their acclaimed debut More Than Alot, released in 2008, and 2011’s platinum-selling UK number two No More Idols.
Chase & Status are known for their big-name collaborations and have featured artists such as Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal and fellow Eden Sessions headliner Plan B.
Singles include the first album’s Against All Odds, featuring London MC and star of Channel 4’s Top Boy Kano, and End Credits featuring Plan B. Blind Faith featuring Liam Bailey and Let You Go featuring Mali were both hits from the second record.
As well as releasing material under their own name, Chase & Status have production credits on records from artists as disparate as Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, Alexandra Burke and another 2012 Eden Sessions headliner Example.
Last year, they won both Best Live Act and Best Producer gongs at the Drum & Bass Awards, following up 2009’s triple win in the Best Producer, Best Album (More Than Alot) and Best Track (Take Me Away) categories.
London singer-songwriter and record producer Labrinth, otherwise known as Timothy McKenzie, will also be playing on the day.
Labrinth is best known for his collaborations with Tinie Tempah, including producing and featuring on Tinie’s smash hits Pass Out and Frisky. Tinie also featured on Labrinth’s most successful single to date, the UK number two Earthquake, which followed up his number three hit Let the Sun Shine.
Most recent single Last Time is the third from his debut album Electronic Earth, which was released earlier this month and debuted at number two in the UK charts.
Devlin, who is special guest at Example’s Eden Session on June 30, featured Labrinth on Let It Go, a single from his debut record Bud, Sweat and Beers.
Martin Williams, Eden’s Marketing Director, said: “Chase & Status played an amazing show on their first visit to Eden so we’re really looking forward to seeing them on our main Eden Sessions stage for the first time. Since they first played here, they have established themselves as one of the best urban acts in the world, redefining the genre and working with some of the top MCs around"
“Labrinth’s singles have all made the top five and he has featured on one of the biggest hits of recent years, Tinie Tempah’s Pass Out. With his debut album out now, we think he is set for big things and will be a great complement to Chase & Status at the Eden Sessions.”
Chase & Status and Labrinth join musical comic Tim Minchin (Saturday June 23), dance supremo Example and grime artist Devlin (Saturday June 30), Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls headlining a day of folk music (Sunday July 1), UK soul and hip-hop star Plan B (Friday July 6), US pop-punks Blink-182 (Sunday July 8 - SOLD OUT) and indie stars Noah and the Whale and The Vaccines (Wednesday July 11) on the bill for the Eden Sessions in 2012.
The Eden Sessions enter their eleventh year in 2012, following an acclaimed series of gigs in 2011, featuring Brandon Flowers and Pendulum among others. Previous years have seen performances from acts including Oasis, Kasabian, Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine and Muse.
