Lily & Madeleine have unveiled the eerily evocative official video for their new single 'Come To Me' which is set for release on 25th November via Asthmatic Kitty Records
The new song is taken from the teen sister’s self-titled, full-length debut which will be released 28 October and is available for pre-order at iTunes and Asthmatic Kitty Records’ website.
For the 'Come To Me' video, Lily and Madeleine travelled south from their hometown of Indianapolis, Indianna to Nashville, Tennessee to work with 1504 Pictures. Filmed in the streets and living rooms of the suburbs and in nearby forests, the video evokes scenes from Donnie Darko and E.T.
'Come To Me' expresses the adventure and possibilities of love and friendship, yet there is still room for insecurity and doubt. However, this is not just a fanciful slice from a pair of imaginative teenagers: “they’re all written from personal experience” Madeleine confirms. “But the lyrics about relationships aren’t limited to love; they can be just as much about family and friends. We want everyone who hears the songs to relate to them.”
The duo played their very first UK gig to an enrapt audience last week at The Social. There has been a great deal of anticipation for the album in advance of the release already, with a Guardian New Band of the Day piece, a Breaking Band feature in The Sunday Times and they have also been featured in the Independent on Sunday and Uncut. The chatter in the US is advancing leaps and bounds since their television debut on “CBS This Morning” performing “Come to Me” as well as “Devil We Know.” They’ve also had features in Teen Vogue, Vogue and The New York Times.
Produced by Paul Mahern (John Mellencamp, The Fray), their 11-track album was recorded in Bloomington, IN and was written by the sisters and longtime collaborator Kenny Childers (Gentleman Caller). Of the project, Madeleine comments “The new album reflects on our experiences as we grow as artists; looking both back to the places we’ve visited growing up for inspiration, and looking forward to our hopes for the future. This project really feels like our own, and we’re so grateful to those who helped us create it.”
Born and raised in Indianapolis, the sisters (Lily, age 16 and Madeleine, age 19) originally gained notice when the acoustic video for their song 'In the Middle' made it to the homepage at Reddit. To date, the video has been viewed over 320, 000 times. A complete series of acoustic videos can be viewed at the duo’s YouTube page.
